“Another day, another slay.” Or at least that’s how the Gen-Z would say it. Either way, it seems to be working for Seoul. The famous South Korean city’s latest trick to attract more tourists, specifically the Gen-Z crowd, is showing great “colours”. The city is marketing its viral ‘personal colour analysis’. In the vibrant city of Seoul, South Korea, a captivating trend has taken hold, enchanting Gen-Z tourists from all corners of the globe. The trend revolves around personal colour analysis, a viral phenomenon that has captured the hearts of young travellers seeking unique experiences. 

In this captivating trend, visitors are drawn to various local establishments where expert analysts utilize the power of colours to unlock each individual’s true palette. From clothing choices, makeup and even lifestyle decisions. 

During the process, the client’s shoulders are draped with numerous fabric swatches, and the colour consultants carefully examine what enhances their facial features. They also take into consideration what highlights their best features. This procedure usually takes about 60 minutes, reports Hindustan Times.

Is The Viral Trend Really “Brand New”?

But is the trend really new? No, not completely. While the colour analysis practice has been decades old, the hype for it is only catching on now. It was earlier used mainly by politicians, and social elites alike. This helped them look their most appealing self to the public eye. 

Pop culture enthusiasts have recently shown a surge of interest in colour analysis, reports Hindustan Times. The report says that  TikTok has over 375 million views for the search term “Personal Color Analysis Korea,” indicating its growing popularity. 

It also noted that influencers have shared their experiences and provided detailed instructions on how to book the service and where to go. Jisoo from the popular K-pop group Blackpink even shared her personal colour analysis results, which went viral and garnered over 2.6 million views on YouTube. But, how does Seoul come into play?

Well, by using the viral colour analysis trend to boost their tourism. The city went one step further and took its marketing offline. The Korea Tourism Organization, as part of the free summerlong event, Celebrate Korea set up a pop-up. The pop-up was for a colour analysis studio in Rockefeller Center in New York.
