Situated in the northwest of Saudi Arabia, AlUla stands as one of the oldest and most significant archaeological sites in the Middle East. Once a bustling crossroads of civilizations and trade routes, the city houses remnants of ancient kingdoms. Beyond its historical significance, AlUla boasts breathtaking natural landscapes, featuring sandstone mountains, desert oases, and unique rock formations.
Ronaldo and Rodriguez embarked on a journey through AlUla’s iconic landmarks. The list included Hegra, the first UNESCO World Heritage Site in Saudi Arabia. This site showcases over 100 well-preserved tombs carved into rocks by the Nabataeans over two millennia ago. The couple also explored Dadan, the capital of the Dadanite and Lihyanite kingdoms, dating back to the first millennium BCE. They were welcomed with Saudi’s traditional sword dance, drum beats and lots of clapping by the troupe. Ronaldo’s partner, Georgina has uploaded an array of photos which have left their fans intrigued. After Hegra, they also visited the famous mirrored building in AlUla, Maraya. Like the earlier getaways, this time the couple wasn’t accompanied by their children.

The visit aligns with the Royal Commission for AlUla’s (RCU) efforts to position the region as a global hub for culture, heritage, and nature. To attract 2 million visitors annually by 2035 and create 38,000 new jobs for the local community, the RCU has launched initiatives like the Journey Through Time Masterplan. This 15-year strategy aims to transform AlUla into a living museum.
