Just like local trains are the lifeline of Mumbai city, it will not be an exaggeration to call Namma metro the same for Bengaluru city. It has helped a lot in minimising the traffic that the city witnesses. But on Wednesday, passengers had to go through a lot of confusion as well as inconvenience as the Bengaluru green line metro service was disrupted due to some technical glitch.

Bengaluru Green Line Metro Service Disrupted

Metro services between Nagasandra and Yeshwantpur stations were suspended for more than thirty minutes on Friday morning, causing confusion and discomfort for Bengaluru metro passengers utilising the northern portion of the green line.

Only around 10.50 am did the service restart, according to metro officials. The Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation (BMRCL) stated that train services between Nagasandra and Yeshwantpur stations were temporarily suspended until the problem was resolved.

The reason for the temporary stoppage of train services was a notification of a signalling system malfunction at the Peenya Industry station at 10:18 am.

Problem With The Signalling System

At 10:18 am, there was a reported electrical problem with the signalling system. A senior official stated that while the precise cause of the problem has not yet been determined, efforts are being made to find a quick solution. He continued by saying that there were no problems with the metro trains themselves.

It will not be long until the cause of the disturbance is officially announced. All metro trains travelling on the green line operated normally up until the Yeshwantpur station, at which point passengers were left to choose their own travel plans.

A few passengers voiced their complaints about the situation on social media. One of the images on social media platform X (formerly Twitter) showed a metro train stationed at Nagasandra station in the background with the caption, “Train not in service.”

Officials Should Have Informed

In a video, after passing through the entry gates, a number of passengers were seen stranded on the platform. Their expressions showed their confusion, as they did not know when train service would begin.

On X, a member mentioned that he had been waiting since 10.15 a.m. Additionally, he stated that prior to distributing metro tickets, the public should be informed by the metro officials. Many other netizens also commented that the Namma metro officials should have put out a post on the internet to make people aware of the glitch. This made many people question Bengaluru’s being called a tech-savvy city.

Another commenter mentioned that he had been waiting for the train service to arrive at the Nagasandra metro station for almost an hour.

Many people were actually forced to change their travel plans, which ultimately led them to get stuck in Bengaluru’s traffic. The disruption of the metro line actually caused a lot of inconvenience to the people.
